Who is the Joburg Super Kings captain for 2027?
Joburg Super Kings have not announced their Season 5 captain. The official SA20 team listing currently shows the position as TBC, meaning “to be confirmed.” Neither Donovan Ferreira nor Jason Holder has been confirmed in the role.
Former captain Faf du Plessis appears on SA20’s not-retained list for JSK. He is therefore not part of the team’s currently announced 2027 squad.

Jason Holder joins JSK
Holder brings seam bowling, lower-order batting and international leadership experience to Johannesburg. The former West Indies captain previously represented Durban’s Super Giants in SA20. His move to JSK is a confirmed pre-signing ahead of the auction.

Who is the Joburg Super Kings coach?
Albie Morkel is JSK’s head coach for SA20 2027. The former South Africa all-rounder was promoted from assistant coach following Stephen Fleming’s departure.
Morkel already knows the franchise through his previous coaching role. His appointment gives JSK continuity within the coaching group while the team rebuilds its playing squad and appoints a captain.
Fleming guided Joburg Super Kings to the playoffs in each of the first four SA20 seasons. Season 5 is Morkel’s first campaign in charge.
