Durban’s Super Giants 2027: Squad, Captain and Schedule
Durban’s Super Giants (DSG) have completed their 19-player squad for SA20 2027, led by Aiden Markram and coached by Lance Klusener. Sam Curran is the new pre-signing, and Heinrich Klaasen remains the wildcard. DSG start against Pretoria Capitals on 19 January and play their home matches at Kingsmead, Durban.
The roster is complete ahead of the 7 October auction. Any later replacement or availability announcement may change the squad. DSG are one of the six SA20 2027 teams. Their first home game is against Sunrisers Eastern Cape on 21 January, two days after their opening away fixture.

Durban’s Super Giants fixtures for SA20 2027
DSG’s first match is away to Pretoria Capitals at SuperSport Park, Centurion, on Tuesday, 19 January 2027. It starts at 17:30 SAST, which is 20:30 in Pakistan and 21:00 in India.

New signing, departures and auction status
Sam Curran is DSG’s new pre-signing for Season 5. The England all-rounder returns to SA20 after previously playing for MI Cape Town. His arrival adds another seam-bowling and batting option to a squad that has retained Markram, Klaasen, Buttler, Williamson and Narine.

These players are not part of DSG’s currently announced 19-player roster. “Not retained” describes their status with Durban; it does not establish whether they will join another franchise.
DSG have zero auction vacancies because their roster is already complete. The league’s remaining-purse list does not publish a DSG figure. Heinrich Klaasen’s wildcard place is included in the 19-player total, with the wildcard fee falling outside the team salary cap.

Markram continues in the captaincy after leading DSG in Season 4. Klusener has been the franchise’s head coach since its first SA20 season.
Who owns Durban’s Super Giants?
Durban’s Super Giants are owned by the RPSG Group, led by chairman Dr Sanjiv Goenka. SA20 lists the franchise ownership entity as RPSG Sports Private Limited.
The group also owns Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League. DSG’s September 2026 identity announcement connects the Durban franchise with Lucknow Super Giants and Manchester Super Giants in The Hundred under the wider Super Giants brand. Each team has its own squad and competition.
The Durban franchise was formed in 2022 and began playing in SA20’s inaugural season in 2023.
DSG’s new logo, colours and kit
Durban’s Super Giants unveiled a redesigned logo and a red, blue and gold colour palette on 23 September 2026. The announcement also revealed the new playing kit, modelled by Aiden Markram, Gerald Coetzee, Eathan Bosch and Tony de Zorzi.
According to the official DSG identity announcement, the new look will extend across playing and training kits, Kingsmead branding, digital channels and merchandise ahead of the new season.
The update gives DSG a closer visual connection to the other Super Giants franchises while retaining Durban as the team’s home city.
How did Durban’s Super Giants perform last season?
DSG finished fifth in SA20 2026 and missed the playoffs. Aiden Markram scored 309 runs in nine matches at an average of 44.14, including a century in their final league game against Paarl Royals. Eathan Bosch took seven wickets in seven matches.
The Season 5 squad keeps most of that group together, with Curran the only player listed as a new pre-signing. Durban therefore enter 2027 with continuity in leadership and personnel after a season outside the top four.
